Preview: Rio Hondo Prep Kares vs. St. Margaret's Tartans
The Rio Hondo Prep Kares will be playing at home against the St. Margaret's Tartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Rio Hondo Prep humbled Campbell Hall with a 38-7 victory. The victory was just what Rio Hondo Prep needed coming off of a 34-13 loss in their prior match.
Nate Curtis and Caeden Holcomb were among the main playmakers for Rio Hondo Prep as the former rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown and the latter rushed for 55 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, St. Margaret's entered their tilt with Calvary Chapel with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. St. Margaret's took their game at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 55-14 victory over Calvary Chapel. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-7.
Matt Arena was a one-man wrecking crew for St. Margaret's as he rushed for 127 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Ruff, who threw for 235 yards and four touchdowns while completing 95% of his passes.
Rio Hondo Prep's win was their sixth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.7 points per game. As for St. Margaret's, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
