Basketball Recap: Natalie Clark's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mccool Junction over Bruning-Davenport/Shickley

McCool Junction was the 60-33 winner over Bruning-Davenport/Shickley when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The McCool Junction Mustangs took a 42-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bruning-Davenport/Shickley Eagles. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

McCool Junction lost on Tuesday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Natalie Clark, who posted 17 points and three steals. That was a full 47.2% of McCool Junction's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Claire Brugger, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 14 points and seven boards.

Bruning-Davenport/Shickley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Hayley Sliva out in front who went 5 for 9 en route to 10 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexie Johnson, who scored four points along with five rebounds and five steals.

McCool Junction's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Bruning-Davenport/Shickley, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.

McCool Junction will face off against Osceola at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Osceola will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something McCool Junction surely won't give up without a fight. Bruning-Davenport/Shickley has already played their next contest (against Shelby-Rising City), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
