Basketball Recap: Ethel Walker Starts Season with Victory Against Hotchkiss School

Ethel Walker took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Wednesday. They blew past the Hotchkiss School Bearcats 77-32. The victory was nothing new for Ethel Walker as they're now sitting on six straight dating back to last season.

Liana Salamone was a one-woman wrecking crew as she dropped a double-double with 16 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Bailey Winner, who shot 75% from the field on her way to 13 points and six rebounds.

Ethel Walker smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Ethel Walker will take on Mount St. Charles Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Hotchkiss School, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Phillips Academy at 4:00 p.m. on the 19th.
