Pinnacle has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will head out to face off against the Liberty Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Last Friday, Pinnacle really took it to Chaparral for the full four quarters, racking up a 45-14 victory at home. The Pioneers pushed the score to 42-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Firebirds cut but never quite recovered from.

Wyatt Horton continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 75 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries, while also throwing for 163 yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Liberty faced Chandler in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Everything went Liberty's way against Chandler as Liberty made off with a 45-20 win. Considering the Lions have won four matches by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Liberty's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Braxton Huynh led the charge by picking up 124 receiving yards and a touchdown. Jayden Sanchez got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Pinnacle's record is now 4-2. As for Liberty, their record is now 4-1.

Friday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Horton and Hayden Fletcher. Horton has put up some stellar numbers this year, and currently owns excellent season averages 229.8 passing yards and has 15 passing touchdowns on the season. For his part, Fletcher has averaged 241.4 passing yards and has 11 passing touchdowns on the season.

Pinnacle took a serious blow against Liberty when the teams last played back in October of 2023, falling 57-19. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Pinnacle was down 36-12.
