Softball Recap: Saddleback Roadrunners vs. Magnolia Sentinels
Saddleback had lost 12 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-12 to make it 13. They lost 14-4 to the Magnolia Sentinels. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Sentinels this season, with their most recent defeat being a 16-12 loss on April 8th.
As for Magnolia, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-6. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by ten runs or more this season.
For Magnolia's part, Sofia Miranda made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Miranda was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Magnolia got a massive performance out of Sophia Corrales, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave Corrales a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eveanna Jones, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Saddleback is set to take on their familiar foe Estancia at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Magnolia will face off against rival Bolsa Grande at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
