Baseball Game Preview: Geneseo Maple Leafs vs. Abingdon/Avon Tornadoes

The Geneseo Maple Leafs will square off against the Abingdon/Avon Tornadoes at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

On Thursday, Geneseo got the win against Mercer County by a conclusive 12-1. The Maple Leafs haven't had any issues with the Golden Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Abingdon/Avon unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 15-11 to Macomb.

Geneseo's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-17. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Abingdon/Avon, their loss dropped their record down to 12-11.

Geneseo skirted past Abingdon/Avon 3-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Maple Leafs repeat their success, or do the Tornadoes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
