Basketball Recap: East Lyme Takes a Loss

East Lyme managed to keep up with Norwich Free Academy until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The East Lyme Vikings lost 44-21 to the Norwich Free Academy Wildcats. The defeat continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now lost seven in a row.

Leading Norwich Free Academy to victory were Jordyn Bay-Kent and Sophie Miner. Bay-Kent almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine boards, while Miner went 5-for-9 en route to 10 points and seven steals. Those ten points gave Miner a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emily Orcutt, who posted seven points and 11 rebounds.

East Lyme's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Norwich Free Academy, they pushed their record up to 15-6 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

East Lyme does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Norwich Free Academy, they will challenge Fitch at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
