Soccer Recap: Croatan Pulls Away in the Second Half

Havelock kept up with Croatan until halftime on Thursday, but afterwards: not so much. The Cougars put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 4-1 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Croatan's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 206th, while Havelock are ranked 415th).

Croatan has been performing well recently, winning four of their last five matchups. That's given a solid lift to their 6-9 record this season. The wins were made possible by their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those five games. As for Havelock, they dropped their record down to 2-7 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Croatan is set to challenge their familiar foe Northside - Jacksonville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Havelock will face off against their in-conference opponent Swansboro at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
