Baseball Recap: Central Red Devils vs. Mattanawcook Lynx

Central couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They wound up on the wrong side of a rough 12-2 walloping at the hands of the Mattanawcook Lynx on Wednesday. Central was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mattanawcook apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Daniel Dyer was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.

On Mattanawcook's side, Bradly Dill spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, James Trott was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Owen Harper was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central will take on Penquis Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Mattanawcook, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Deer Isle-Stonington at 12:00 p.m.
