American Canyon is a perfect 10-0 against Napa since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Wolves will face off against the Grizzlies at 4:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.
American Canyon will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Sonoma Valley on Friday. The Wolves blew past the Dragons 13-5. The win was some much needed relief for the Wolves as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
The team relied heavily on Deja Montgomery, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Camille Wilson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
American Canyon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sonoma Valley only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Napa, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Justin-Siena on Friday as they made off with a 9-3 victory. The Grizzlies not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 18th (when they won 10-2).
Brooklyn Miller made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off 13 hits. Miller was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Mattea Buhman was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Courtney Mayer, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Napa's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 4-13. As for American Canyon, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
American Canyon took their win against Napa in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 14-5 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
