Softball Recap: Castaic Takes a Loss

Castaic lost against West Ranch on Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Coyotes fell 8-3 to the Wildcats.

Lulu Smith was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Castaic has also been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for West Ranch, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-13.

Castaic and West Ranch could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Coyotes (ranked 619th) will meet Valencia (ranked 172nd) at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, West Ranch will take on Saugus at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (399 vs. 50).
