Softball Game Preview: Chowchilla Tribe vs. Sierra Chieftains

Chowchilla has gone a perfect 10-0 against Sierra recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Tribe will take on the Chieftains at 4:00 p.m. Chowchilla will be strutting in after a victory while Sierra will be coming in after a defeat.

Chowchilla gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 5-2 win over Immanuel. The victory continues a trend for the Tribe in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won four in a row.

Lexyss Sabin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Chowchilla's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Rylee Vlot, who went 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Sierra fell victim to Chowchilla and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Tribe, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Chieftains' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Chowchilla now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Sierra, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-6.

Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Chowchilla hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .352. However, it's not like Sierra struggles in that department as they've averaged .404. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Everything went Chowchilla's way against Sierra when the teams last played on Tuesday, as Chowchilla made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tribe since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
