Recap: Rio Mesa Spartans vs. Pacifica Tritons

After flying high against the Oxnard Yellowjackets last Friday, The Rio Mesa Spartans came back down to earth. Rio Mesa's rough 28-3 defeat to Pacifica on Friday might stick with them for a while. Having soared to a lofty 41 points in the game before, Rio Mesa couldn't push the score so high this time.

JJ Bittner threw for 111 yards on ten of 28 attempts. Noah Ramos was his top target, picking up 53 receiving yards and no touchdowns. On the ground, J'lin Wingo rushed for 61 yards.

Pacifica's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isaiah Dillon led the charge by picking up 210 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Dillon's longest reception was for an incredible 87 yards. Another player making a difference was Dominic Duran, who threw for 251 yards and three touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes.

Rio Mesa's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Pacifica, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rio Mesa will square off against Dos Pueblos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dos Pueblos is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Pacifica, they will head out on the road to face off against Oxnard at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Oxnard will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 454th, while Pacifica is ranked 53rd).
