Flag Football Recap: Roosevelt Takes a Loss

If Roosevelt was riding high fresh off their 25-0 takedown of South Gate on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rough Riders took a 24-19 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Huntington Park Spartans on Monday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Rough Riders came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked 229th, while the Spartans are ranked 573rd).

Roosevelt's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Huntington Park, their win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-7-2.

Looking ahead, Roosevelt will take on Legacy at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Rough Riders 10.5, the Tigers 14.7) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Huntington Park, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 27-0 victory against South Gate on the 29th.
