Baseball Recap: Northern Durham Finds Home Field Redemption Against Roxboro Community

There's no place like home for Northern Durham, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Roxboro Community Bulldogs with a sharp 19-0 victory on Friday. This was payback for the Knights, who suffered an 11-7 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Mason Wilkins made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Northern Durham let Tanner Freeman and J.D. Williams run wild. Freeman scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Williams scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Freeman a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Dylan Guerrette, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Northern Durham always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .658. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Roxboro Community only posted an OBP of .211.

The win got Northern Durham back to even at 1-1. As for Roxboro Community, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.

Northern Durham wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 6-0 defeat against Orange on the 3rd. As for Roxboro Community, they have also already played their next game, a 14-0 loss against Southern Alamance on the 7th.
