Basketball Game Preview: Elwood Panthers vs. Frankton Eagles

Elwood is on a three-game streak of home losses, Frankton a nine-game streak of away losses dating back to last season, but someone's luck will change on Friday. The Elwood Panthers will host the Frankton Eagles at 7:30 p.m.

Last Friday, Elwood ended up a good deal behind Mississinewa and lost 55-39. The Panthers were down 49-23 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Frankton on Saturday. They took down Wes-Del 55-37.

Elwood better focus on containing Trey Bennett and Brady Carmack as the pair were huge in Frankton's win. Bennett went 8 for 13 en route to 18 points in addition to seven boards and three blocks, while Carmack almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. The game was Carmack's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Joey Wright, who posted six points and six steals.

Frankton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Elwood's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Frankton, their win bumped their record up to 5-8.
