Baseball Recap: Washburn Takes a Loss

Washburn fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Southern Aroostook on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 4-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Beavers of the 9-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Blake King put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). King was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with five stolen bases and three runs. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played.

Washburn now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Southern Aroostook, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
