Softball Recap: Morehead Finds Home Field Redemption Against Bethany Community

There's no place like home for Morehead, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They won by a run and slipped past the Bethany Community Wolves 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Panthers: when they faced off against the Wolves last Monday, they had to take a 4-2 loss.

Saillie Aheron made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Aheron wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ella Wade, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Jenna Mauney also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Morehead's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Bethany Community, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Morehead Panthers face off against Rockingham County Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bethany Community, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Clover Garden School at 5:15 p.m.
