Basketball Recap: Cinco Ranch Extends Winning Streak to Four

Cinco Ranch waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with a 44-32 victory over the Cypress Park Tigers. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Tigers are ranked 154th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the defeat, Cypress Park saw an underclassman step up: freshman Joshua Augmon posted eight points and eight boards. Augmon has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was De'Von Simmons, who had three points.

Cinco Ranch has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.5 points per game. As for Cypress Park, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.

Cinco Ranch didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 74-62 win against Cypress Woods on the 27th. As for Cypress Park, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 70-53 victory against Strake Jesuit on the 27th.
