Softball Game Preview: Forrest Rockets vs. Alcoa Tornadoes

The Forrest Rockets will square off against the Alcoa Tornadoes on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Forrest 3.1, Alcoa 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Friday, it was close, but Forrest sidestepped Huntingdon for a 6-5 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rockets.

Meanwhile, Alcoa waltzed into their contest on Saturday with 16 straight wins... but they left with 17. Everything went their way against the Wildcats as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tornadoes, who have now won 20 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Kaylea Osborne tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Grayson Burgess was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Halle Bailey, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Alcoa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matches.

Alcoa pushed their record up to 38-6 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Forrest, their record is now 19-10.

Everything went Forrest's way against Alcoa in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, as Forrest made off with a 10-3 win. Do the Rockets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tornadoes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
