Baseball Recap: Northwood Drops Highest Score of Season Against Alexandria Country Day

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northwood). They blew past the Alexandria Country Day Tigers 18-3 on Monday. The Gators not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 27, 2024.

Braxten McFarlain made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. McFarlain was even better at the plate, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, James Bradford was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Randall Carraway was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances.

Northwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .587. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Northwood has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. Alexandria Country Day's defeat was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northwood will host St. Mary at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Alexandria Country Day, they will be playing at home against St. Joseph's - Plaucheville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
