Football Recap: Copper Canyon Skates Past Yuma with Ease + How To Watch

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pueblo, Copper Canyon was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 40-2 win over the Yuma Criminals. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Aztecs' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Javian Wright was a one-man wrecking crew as he picked up 179 receiving yards and one TD. Those 179 receiving yards gave him a new career-high.

Copper Canyon was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 209 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Yuma only rushed for 19.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Copper Canyon's defense and their four sacks. Leading the way was Jeremiah Adams Curry with three. Adams Curry is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least five every time he's taken the field this season.

The victory snapped Copper Canyon's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-3 record. As for Yuma, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Copper Canyon will head out on the road to face off against Alhambra at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Aztecs will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 61.8 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Yuma, they will face off against Gila Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Criminals' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
