Baseball Game Preview: Beechwood Tigers vs. Highlands Bluebirds

The Beechwood Tigers will venture away from home to challenge the Highlands Bluebirds at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Beechwood is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

While Beechwood's win against Cooper wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers skirted past the Jaguars 8-7. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Austin Stephenson looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Sawyer Carlisle was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs. Carson Welch also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Highlands' offense. They came up short against Ryle on Monday, falling 8-0. The Bluebirds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Beechwood has been performing well recently as they've won 14 of their last 18 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Highlands, their loss dropped their record down to 17-8-2.

Beechwood beat Highlands 9-6 when the teams last played back in March. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Bluebirds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
