Volleyball Recap: KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

It was a good run, but KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-match winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against the Academy of Notre Dame Lancers, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lancers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Academy of Notre Dame scored at least 17 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-17, 25-22.

Emily Diaz paced KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate's offense, picking up six kills. Diaz got some help from Jaslin Taing and her 13 assists. Finally, Hailey Herrera kept KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Academy of Notre Dame, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-9.

Looking ahead, KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate will take on St. Mary's at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Academy of Notre Dame, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Greater Lawrence Tech at 5:00 p.m.
