Baseball Recap: Jasper Comes Up Short

Jasper was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Mabank Panthers, falling 13-1.

Kayson Owens was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jasper saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brady Moss, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Jasper's loss dropped their record down to 5-15-1. As for Mabank, the win got them back to even at 12-12-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Jasper will venture away from home to square off against Sealy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mabank, they will take on Brownsboro at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Bears have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
