Churchill County came tearing into Saturday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Fernley Vaqueros 7-5. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 4-1 victory on Saturday.

Anthony Gonzalez was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Churchill County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-4-1 when he doesn't). Chase Carnahan was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base.

Churchill County's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Fernley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9-1.
