Basketball Game Preview: East St. Louis Flyers vs. Belleville West Maroons

East St. Louis has gone 8-2 against Belleville West recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The East St. Louis Flyers will head out on the road to challenge the Belleville West Maroons at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, East St. Louis was able to grind out a solid win over Collinsville, taking the game 55-45. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Flyers.

East St. Louis got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Montreal Stacker out in front who went 7 for 10 on his way to 17 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds. What's more, Stacker also posted a 70% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ishaia Brown, who posted eight points along with 14 boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, Belleville West was fully in charge on Saturday, breezing past Springfield Southeast 58-22. Given the Maroons' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 156th, while the Spartans are ranked 505th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

East St. Louis' record is now 13-14. As for Belleville West, their record now sits at 12-13.

Everything came up roses for East St. Louis against Belleville West when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 63-34 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for East St. Louis since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
