Basketball Recap: Josiah Mejia's Big Game Can't Quite Lead San Jacinto over Notre Dame

San Jacinto saw some tournament action on Friday. They took a 61-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Notre Dame Titans.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Josiah Mejia, who posted 11 points along with seven steals and five assists. Mejia is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Erik Gonzalez, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 12 points.

San Jacinto's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Notre Dame, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-4.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the San Jacinto Tigers take on the Perris Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Notre Dame, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 77-38 loss against Linfield Christian on the 10th.
