Lubbock-Cooper is 9-1 against Monterey since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Pirates will be playing at home against the Plainsmen at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lubbock-Cooper has six straight wins, Monterey has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While Lubbock-Cooper's victory against Tascosa wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Pirates sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Rebels on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pirates have posted since March 1st.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Monterey's offense. They lost 10-0 to Amarillo on Saturday.

Monterey saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brent Sanders, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Lubbock-Cooper's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-10. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Monterey, their loss dropped their record down to 5-23-1.

Everything went Lubbock-Cooper's way against Monterey in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Lubbock-Cooper made off with a 7-1 win. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Plainsmen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
