Softball Recap: Soquel Victorious

Soquel had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They had just enough and edged out the Woodside Wildcats 4-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.

Kiyomi Dunlap was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Niizawa, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Sophia Kilby, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Soquel's record now sits at 20-7. As for Woodside, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-10.

Coming up, Soquel will square off against Monterey at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Toreadors' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Woodside does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
