Basketball Recap: Drew Irwin and Quez Outten Secure Win for Evangelical Christian

Evangelical Christian hadn't done well against Naples recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Evangelical Christian Sentinels had just enough and edged the Naples Golden Eagles out 55-53. This was payback for the Sentinels, who suffered a 71-56 loss the last time these two teams met.

Evangelical Christian was led to victory by Quez Outten and Drew Irwin. Outten went 9 for 12 on his way to 21 points, while Irwin went 6 of 13 en route to 14 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was David Morris, who posted seven points.

Evangelical Christian now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Naples, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Evangelical Christian will host Oasis at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Evangelical Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Oasis likes a good challenge. As for Naples, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bishop Verot at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Naples' favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Bishop Verot has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
