Hays is 4-0 against Anderson since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Hays Hawks will venture away from home to square off against the Anderson Trojans at 7:30 p.m.

Hays is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against College Station on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Hays took a blow against College Station, falling 58-18. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 529th, while the Cougars are ranked 47th).

Hays' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Tacoma Ames, who threw for 366 yards and three touchdowns, and Layton Fuentes, who picked up 174 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 94 yards. A healthy portion of that aerial production (95 yards to be exact) also went to Jayden Gingrow, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Meanwhile, Anderson waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They really took it to the Eagles for the full four quarters, racking up a 59-14 victory on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 49-0.

Max Gerlich and Dominic Mays were among the main playmakers for Anderson as the former threw for 220 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes and the latter rushed for 95 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Gerlich is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for four or more in the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Tristan Waidelich did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 91 receiving yards.

Anderson wouldn't let Cedar Creek keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Anderson can thank Hodges Smith and Noah Saldivar for forcing both of them.

This is the second loss in a row for Hays and nudges their season record down to 3-4. As for Anderson, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.
