Basketball Game Preview: Olympian Eagles vs. Carlsbad Lancers

Having just played yesterday, the Olympian Eagles will jump right back in to play the Carlsbad Lancers at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Olympian will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up 29 points on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Eastlake on Friday. Olympian took their game with ease, bagging a 66-38 victory over Eastlake. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 51st, while the Titans are ranked 457th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Carlsbad really took it to Rancho Buena Vista for the full four quarters, racking up a 91-51 win. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Lancers just coasted through the last quarter.

Carlsbad has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.5 points over those games. As for Olympian, their victory bumped their record up to 20-4.

Olympian was able to grind out a solid win over Carlsbad in their previous meeting back in December of 2017, winning 64-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for Olympian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
