Softball Recap: Bret Harte Takes a Loss

Bret Harte fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Summerville on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bears by a score of 3-2. The Bullfrogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Madison Kane spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Rylee Banks made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Bret Harte's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Summerville, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-6 record.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Bret Harte is set to take on their familiar foe Riverbank at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Summerville will square off against rival Big Valley Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
