Softball Recap: Puxico Comes Up Short

Puxico had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 6-9 to make it four. They came up short against the Malden Green Wave, falling 18-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Indians have suffered since March 27th.

Puxico saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lily Foster, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Lexi Freeman was another, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.

As for Malden, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-12 record this season. The result was nothing new for Malden, who have now won 13 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

On Malden's side, Camryn Ellison was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles Ellison has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Malone, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Coming up, Puxico will venture away from home to square off against Woodland at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Malden, they will welcome East Prairie at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Green Wave's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 10.6 runs per game this season.
