The Plainfield Quakers are taking a road trip to square off against the Cascade Cadets at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Plainfield has given up an average of 7.9 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Plainfield couldn't beat Brownsburg on Thursday even though they stacked four runs on them in the sixth inning. The Quakers came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 17-5. The Quakers' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Maci Hanlin made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs.
Meanwhile, Cascade had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Hot Dogs with a sharp 17-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Cadets, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Lacie Godby made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three runs and one double.
In other batting news, Cascade got a massive performance out of Macey Pugh, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Suzy Moore was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Cascade always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Frankfort only posted an OBP of .263.
Plainfield's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Cascade, their record is now 16-1.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Plainfield has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .457. However, it's not like Cascade struggles in that department as they've averaged .520. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Plainfield's way against Cascade when the teams last played back in April of 2025, as Plainfield made off with an 8-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Quakers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
