It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Jamesville-DeWitt Red Rams ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Chittenango 83-81. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the loss, Chittenango still got an impressive performance from Ryan Moesch, who scored 55 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Moesch scored a full 67.9% of Chittenango's points, the ninth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Hunter Taylor was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds.
Jamesville-DeWitt's win ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-0. As for Chittenango, their loss ended a 13-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jamesville-DeWitt will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Central Square at 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Chittenango will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Fayetteville-Manlius at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fayetteville-Manlius will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 477th, while Chittenango is ranked 197th).
