Softball Recap: Cajon Find Success

Cajon hadn't done well against Beaumont recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Cowboys walked away with a 4-1 win over the Cougars. This was a revenge game for the Cowboys: when they faced off against the Cougars on April 7th, they had to take a 6-0 defeat.

Madison Gallardo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Makayla Thurston, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.

Cajon's victory bumped their record up to 8-17. As for Beaumont, their record now sits at 14-9.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Cajon is set to square off against their familiar foe Redlands East Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Beaumont will face off against rival Yucaipa at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cougars 3.6, the Thunderbirds 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
