Baseball Game Preview: Vacaville Bulldogs vs. Rodriguez Mustangs

For the second straight game, Vacaville will face off against Rodriguez. The Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Vacaville has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Rodriguez will arrive with seven straight wins.

Vacaville's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Tuesday's struggle, when Rodriguez hitters got past them. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 11-10 on Tuesday.

For Rodriguez's part, Ben Vaughn and Sean O'Connell did most of the damage at the plate: Vaughn went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs, while O'Connell went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Vaughn has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Drew Beasley, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Rodriguez's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Vacaville, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-10.
