Baseball Game Preview: Dover-Sherborn Raiders vs. Medway Mustangs

The Dover-Sherborn Raiders will venture away from home to square off against the Medway Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Dover-Sherborn's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Medway's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Dover-Sherborn easily dispatched Lowell Catholic on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Raiders fell just short of Medfield by a score of 5-3 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Raiders have suffered since May 14, 2024.

Luca Mariano was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double. That double marked the first that he hit this season.

Medway never got on the board in their matchup on Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Norton on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Lancers with a sharp 11-0 win. The Mustangs not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 22, 2024.

Dover-Sherborn's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Medway, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

Dover-Sherborn was able to grind out a solid win over Medway in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 5-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
