Basketball Recap: Independence Takes a Loss

On Friday, the Independence 76ers were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 27-26 to the Wellington School Jaguars. The 76ers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Wellington School's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Elodie Ware, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Ware a new career-high in blocks (eight). Another player making a difference was Dea Singh, who posted eight points and four steals.

Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Wellington School, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-4.

Looking ahead, Independence will take on Linden-McKinley in a tournament on Wednesday. As for Wellington School, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Liberty Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m.
