Baseball Recap: Make It Two in a Row for Greenback

Greenback barely beat Midway the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cherokees' pitcher stepped up to hand the Green Wave a 6-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Cherokees might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to JJ Caudill's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Cooper Holt was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Owen O'Donnell, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

The victory made it two in a row for Greenback and bumps their season record up to 9-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Midway, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-9.

Greenback will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Green Wave: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
