Basketball Recap: Graysen Ovitz's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Orland over Shasta

Orland was the 52-49 winner over Shasta when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The matchup between the Orland Trojans and the Shasta Wolves didn't end well, with the Orland Trojans falling 58-39. The Trojans were down 50-26 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Orland lost on Wednesday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Graysen Ovitz, who posted four points and six rebounds. That's the most boards Ovitz has posted since back in December of 2024. Preston Carlson was another key player, putting up seven points.

Orland has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 16-7 record this season. As for Shasta, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Orland will square off against Live Oak at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Orland is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.7 points per game this season. As for Shasta, they will take on Pleasant Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Pleasant Valley's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Shasta has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
