Basketball Recap: Victory Christian Academy Knights vs. Olympian Eagles

The Victory Christian Academy Knights entered their tilt with the Olympian Eagles with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Victory Christian Academy came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 68-56 on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Victory Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Derek Edmond, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. Edmond hasn't dropped below 15 points for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Angel Escarcega, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds.

Olympian's loss came despite strong showings from Sammell Humphries and Jordan Walker. Humphries scored 19 points along with four steals, while Walker scored 17 points. Humphries hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Aquino, who scored 11 points.

Olympian struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Victory Christian Academy pulled down 14 offensive rebounds.

Victory Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 15-8 record this season. As for Olympian, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 21-3.

Victory Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Lancers at 12:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Francis Parker is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 63.8 points per game this season. As for Olympian, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Warhawks at 6:00 p.m. Madison is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
