Soccer Recap: Piedmont's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Thursday

It's playoff time, and Piedmont had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Colusa RedHawks on Thursday. Given the Highlanders' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 141st, while the RedHawks are ranked 652nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Gianluca Bini and Derin Sabuncuoglu scored both of Piedmont's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 12 goals.

The victory made it two in a row for Piedmont and bumps their season record up to 12-9-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two games. As for Colusa, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8-3.

Piedmont wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next matchup, a 4-1 win against Williams on the 8th. Colusa does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
