Basketball Recap: West Jordan Falls to Alta in First Game of Season

West Jordan unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Alta Hawks on Wednesday, falling 77-55. The Jaguars haven't had much luck with the Hawks recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brock Litchfield, who went 7-for-12 to rack up 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Larson, who posted eight points and nine rebounds.

Leading Alta to victory were Dash Reiser and Coby Goodfellow. Reiser shot 47% from the field on his way to 23 points and five assists, while Goodfellow went 6-for-9 from beyond the arc en route to 21 points. Those 21 points gave Goodfellow a new career-high. Kingston Brown was another key player, putting up seven points and ten boards.

West Jordan didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-49 loss against Juan Diego Catholic on the 21st. As for Alta, they have also already played their next matchup, a 65-59 victory against Layton on the 25th.
