Recap: Twin Peaks Charter Academy Timberwolves vs. Denver Academy Mustangs
It was a good run, but the Twin Peaks Charter Academy Timberwolves unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 48-47 to Denver Academy. While losing is never fun, Twin Peaks Charter Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while Denver Academy is ranked 94th).
Twin Peaks Charter Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jaiden Specht, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Matthew Wurth, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Twin Peaks Charter Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Nolan Monasch continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Denver Academy, scoring 23 points along with nine steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Monasch has scored at least 25% of Denver Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Allen, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Twin Peaks Charter Academy now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Denver Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Twin Peaks Charter Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Denver Academy of Torah at 6:15 p.m. on December 14th. Denver Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Gilpin County at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024. Gilpin County comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
