Baseball Recap: Bridgeport's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Bridgeport dropped their record down to 25-9 on Thursday, which also ended the team's nine-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Frankfort Falcons by a score of 6-5. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, with their most recent loss being a 9-2 defeat on May 2nd.

As for Frankfort, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games.

For Frankfort's part, Lanson Orndorf made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Orndorf has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaxon Hare, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Jacob Nething was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

While Bridgeport had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
