Basketball Recap: Bishop Kelly Takes a Loss

After a string of six wins, Bishop Kelly's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They were dealt a 65-34 defeat at the hands of the Middleton Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Vikings are ranked seventh).

It was another big night for Zoey Blackwell, who went 6 for 13 on her way to 20 points and four steals for Middleton. That's the most points Blackwell has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aysha Fried, who went 5 of 9 en route to 10 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Bishop Kelly's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-6. As for Middleton, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 17-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop Kelly will venture away from home to challenge Nampa at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Middleton, they will head out on the road to square off against Vallivue at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
