Baseball Game Preview: Jurupa Valley Jaguars vs. Ontario Jaguars

Jurupa Valley are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will face off against Ontario at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Jurupa Valley saw some tournament action on Saturday. They came out on top against Arroyo Valley by a score of 10-6.

Fabian Portillo made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Portillo was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Francisco Urena and Nathan Martinez did most of the damage at the plate: Urena scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3, while Martinez scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Urena is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now stole at least one in each of the last five games he's played dating back to last season. Julian Lopez was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Ontario put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with an 11-7 win over Azusa.

The team relied heavily on Arnold Magana, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Samuel Rizo, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Ontario kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since the start of last season.

Ontario's record now sits at 3-0. As for Jurupa Valley, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
